Chilli Paneer


 ( Cottage cheese deep fried and simmered in hot and sweet sauce)

Paneer (cottage cheese): 1 Cup cut into small cubes oil for deep-frying

Grated ginger: 1 Tablespoon
Garlic chopped: 1 tablespoon
Celery: 2 Tablespoon (chopped)
Spring onions :1/4 cup (chopped)
Green chillies :1/4 cup slit lengthwise
Capsicum : 1 small  (sliced)
Soy Sauce: 1 tablespoon
Sugar: 1/2 tablespoon
Cornflour paste: 1 tbsp cornflour mixed with 3 tablespoons water
Tomato Sauce: 1 Tablespoon
Oil for frying
salt and pepper to taste
For the batter-
Corn flour: 1/2Cup
Plain flour: 1/2 Cup
Soy sauce: 1.5 tbsp.
Baking powder: 1/4 teaspoon
Salt as per your taste
For Garnishing- 1/2 cup chopped green spring onions.


Combine all the batter ingredients in a bowl and make a smooth batter by adding approximately ¼ cup of water. Coat the Paneer pieces with the batter and deep fry in hot oil over a high flame till the Paneer is golden brown. Drain on absorbent paper and keep aside.
Take 3 tablespoon of oil in a deep pan. Let it heat  and add the ginger, garlic, celery, spring onions and green chilies and sauté over a high flame for 1 to 2 minutes. Add capsicum and sauté for a few more seconds. Add the soya sauce, tomato sauce, sugar, corn flour paste and salt and pepper and allow it to come to a boil. Toss in the fried paneer and mix well. Serve, garnished with the spring onion.

Your delicious Chili Paneer is ready to eat. Serve it hot as an appetizer or an accompaniment to rice or noodles.
