Matar Paneer

(Cottage cheese and Green peas cooked in tomato gravy)

Paneer(Cottage Cheese): 250gms
Green Peas: 1 Cup
Tomato: 2 large
Onion: 1 Large
Garlic: 4 cloves
Ginger: 1 small
Pepper corns: 3-4
Black cardamom: 1
Sabji Masala: 1 tablespoon
Salt to taste
Water: 3-4 Cups
Oil: Tablespoon

Grind onion, ginger, garlic, pepper corns and black cardamom in a blender to make a smooth paste. This is your masala paste.

Take oil in a kadhai and sauté the Masala paste till it turns golden brown.
Meanwhile, puree the tomatoes. Now add the pureed tomatoes, Sabji masala and salt to the masala paste and cook it till the oil starts leaving the sides.
Add water to the masala paste and let it cook on simmer. Add green peas and Paneer cubes and allow it to simmer on low flame for 7-8 minutes till the gravy thickens a bit.

Turn off the heat and transfer Matar Paneer to the serving bowl.
Granish it with chopped coriander and serve it hot with chapatis.

Note: if you would like, you can shallow fry the paneer cubes before adding it to the gravy.
